With summer temperatures blazing ahead, our incoming 2017-18 Board of Directors is hard at work with strategic planning initiatives and great ideas to continue to build upon the successes of this term, as well as improve upon both the volunteer and member experiences for all of our SMPS Sacramento members. Our monthly client luncheon programs will reconvene in September, but in the meantime, SMPS Sacramento is still offering great opportunities to Join, Participate, Grow, and Connect, including:
Build Business Conference: July 12th to 14th – I am honored to be one of the 12 SMPS Sacramento members traveling to Indianapolis, Indiana for this 3-day conference, and can’t wait to share the great take-aways with our membership. A special shout-out to SMPS Sacramento Fellow Frank Lippert, who will be facilitating one of the new conference Mind Exchange roundtable discussions focusing on Business Development and Sales. Break a leg!
SMPS Sacramento Member Awards Program: July 31st – The remarkable marketing and business development talents of our SMPS Sacramento members are incredible. In an effort to highlight these individuals, we are kicking off a new awards program. Please consider nominating an active chapter member for either the Capital City Marketer Award and/or the Rising Star Award. I also have the pleasure of bestowing the President’s Award to one of our outstanding volunteers that have gone above and beyond during the 2016-17 term.
SMPS Sacramento Annual Meeting: August 22nd – Our Special Events Committee is hard at work finalizing the details of our annual meeting which will include the presentation of the Member Awards, as well as an opportunity to thank our outgoing 2016-17 Board of Directors and volunteers for their service, as well as welcome our 2017-18 Board of Directors. Please join us at the Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento for this wonderful luncheon and networking opportunity. Registration information will be available shortly.
Mentoring Pathways Program: Be on the lookout in early August for the applications to join our signature member-only program. Opportunities to be either a mentor and/or protégé will be available, and I encourage all of our members to engage in this program. I have been fortunate to participate twice as a protégé and twice as a mentor. It is one of the best member benefits available and I am eager to sign up again!
In addition to leading the 2017-18 strategic planning efforts, our President-Elect, Tracy Jenkins, is actively recruiting committee chairs and volunteers for the next term. Our Chapter has so many great opportunities to get involved, learn new skills, engage in high-value networking, and take on leadership positions. In addition to leadership and member roles on the year-long committees, we are also looking for members of all experience levels to help with special “micro-volunteer” opportunities. These include one-time or as-needed help with Chapter branding, content development, graphic design, social media, photography, recognition, and champions/hosts for programs, roundtables, and education events. We will post more information later this month, but in the meantime, please contact Tracy for more information.
Interested in becoming a member? SMPS Headquarters is currently running a special membership promotion for the month of July which includes a $95 savings!
The SMPS Sacramento Chapter would not be the success without the tireless efforts of our volunteers that work diligently to develop our programs and events. As Chapter President, I look forward to continued interactions with all of our membership; we are over 120 members strong and growing! Thank you for the opportunity to represent SMPS Sacramento!
