As I close out my first official month as SMPS Sacramento Chapter President, I find myself continually grateful for our members and volunteers - both at the chapter and national levels - who are engaged, authentic, supportive, and thoughtful. It is no small feat to create and sustain an organization with such heart and passion for our society, our vision, and our members. I can truly say that this organization has been indispensible in my own professional growth and enjoyment.
The Sacramento Chapter has benefited from such strong leadership and guidance over the past few years, so I'm honored, excited, and maybe just a little nervous(!), to take over the reins this term to build on this success. On that note - I want to thank Lesley and our outgoing Board of Directors for all of their hard work last term and all of their support and guidance as we prepared and transitioned to this term!
Leading up to this term, our incoming Board of Directors and team of chapter volunteers have put a great deal of thought and effort into cultivating several big picture goals for this term. These include:
- Exceptional Member Experiences: listening to your feedback to create intentional, unique, and meaningful experiences, as well as paths to engagement for members at all career levels.
- Clear and Consistent Communication: streamlining our messages and announcements, and encouraging more two-way communication with members via social media channels and one-on-one conversations.
- Transparency and Accountability: developing an organized framework for chapter information and procedures to ensure this is transparent and accessible to all members.
To root ourselves in the long-term National Vision—Business transformed through marketing leadership, we will also be planning for the future with the development of a five-year strategic plan. This plan will help to prioritize short-term and long-term goals, develop a cohesive (and BOLD!) brand for our chapter, and ensure sustained chapter leadership.
Special Speaking Engagement in October!
Speaking of Bold Branding...we are excited to have Josh Miles coming to Sacramento as part of his Bold Brand 2.0 tour. Bold Brand is a start-to-finish process to position, develop, and leverage your brand and market your firm in a truly distinctive way. Josh speaks from coast to coast on branding, digital marketing, and social media, and is a past TedX presenter. Please join us on October 26th to explore Bold Branding, participate in a lively discussion, and enjoy happy hour! Registration is now open.
We are also kicking off one of our signature member-only programs, the Mentoring Pathways Program. Opportunities to be either a mentor or protégé are available now; the deadline for all applications has been extended to Friday, October 6th - so get your applications in soon! I have had the pleasure of participating in this program as a protégé and can't wait to serve as a mentor; it is one of the best member benefits available!
