Interview Prep Workshop - Postponed

April 14, 2020
1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

WeWork
400 Capital Mall, #8
Sacramento, CA 95814

Cookie cutter PowerPoint presentations are out. A rehash of your firm’s qualifications is passé, and frankly, has bored interview panel members for years. Lively and focused interviews that tell a story, connect with panel members, and connect the approach to the value solutions and to the benefits – all focused on the client – far surpasses the presentation of days gone by. And thank goodness.

This lively and interactive training course will provide attendees with skills and techniques that bring the best out of their technical staff during interviews, conduct focused and strategic interview practice sessions, and tips to get the techy people out of their heads and into the groove of the team.

Lunch will be provided.

The course’s learning objectives include:

  • Understand the different roles of the presentation leader/trainer
  • Techniques to engage the team members
  • Skills to set expectations, boundaries, and priorities

A bit about the "Train the Trainer" Course Leaders:

Frank Lippert, FSMPS, CPSM, is the founder/partner of Go Strategies, LLC. He provides strategic pursuit planning, strategic market capture planning, and the functional seller/doer training to clients throughout the US. Frank is all about helping teams work more effectively and more efficiently with processes, schedules, and tools that keep A/E/C firms’ business development strategy and marketing efforts on track. Frank has worked at small, medium, large, and mega-sized engineering companies in his 30 years in the A/E/C industry. He speaks regularly at SMPS, ACEC, WTS, APWA, and SAME conferences. Frank has served as the SMPS Society chapter delegate and Society president.

As a partner in GO Strategies, Kathryn Ness, CPSM, brings an energy and vitality to the team that significantly promotes the mission of “making everything about marketing and business development easier.” With more than 20 years in the A/E/C industry, Kathryn brings an in-the-trenches perspective for how things work and, more importantly, how things can work better. She has held marketing and business development positions at small, medium, and large firms. Kathryn brings a professional, direct communication style that cuts through endless meetings and discussions and keeps teams on-point. Her sense of humor is balanced with a sense of getting-the-job done. She is an excellent listener and provides creative solutions that work, not abstract theory that sits on shelves.

Kathryn has presented at conferences SMPS PRC and at chapters (Arizona, Oklahoma, Los Angeles, New Mexico, San Francisco, and Sacramento), ASCE, ACEC ASHE, SAME SBC, and AICAE. She served a past chapter president for the Sacramento Chapter, and is currently a committee member for the New Mexico chapter.

Both Frank and Kathryn will bring stories from winning interviews and lessons learned from losers (that’s where the learning happened.)
