Come join your clients and peers in a virtual roundtable discussion about the effects of COVID-19 on current and future A/E/C projects. Our format provides three sessions (15 mins each) with attendees rotating "tables" (Zoom rooms). This will allow the room speaker to discuss the impacts and key learnings they are experiencing and answer questions from participants.

About the Speakers:

John Stump | Flint Builders
John is President of Flint Builders, a general contractor with offices in Roseville, San Jose and San Diego. Specializing in healthcare and education, John dedicates his time, and company resources, to projects that are delivered through a collaborative design process—primarily lease-leaseback and design-build.  In 2019, Flint was nationally recognized by the Design Build Institute of America (DBIA), awarded Project of the Year by DBIA Western Pacific Region, and named General Contractor of the Year by the Associated Subcontractors Alliance.


Marsha Perry Taras | Roebbelen Construction Management
Vice President – Marsha as has spent over 25 years developing and implementing capital improvement programs and projects. Marsha specializes in academic and civic facilities; and currently oversees the Construction Management market segment. Her primary objective is to work with clients to establish viable program and project objectives, and to manage the resources necessary to successfully accomplish those goals. Marsha has helped to develop over 1 billion dollars in completed construction projects working in both the public and private sector. Marsha has served as President of the Southwest Region for the Association for Learning Environments and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Development from the University of California at Davis, and a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of San Francisco.


Will Swearingen, MBA | Clark Pacific
Associate Director of Manufacturing, Parking & Emerging Markets Division – Will brings over 12 years’ experience in complex program management, supply chain development, cross-functional team leadership, and global manufacturing. For the past 2 years, Will has been part of an integrated, collaborative team at Clark Pacific that includes in-house architects, engineers, builders, and prefabrication specialists who collectively bring owners a new choice in parking structure construction: Design-Manufacture-Build. Will is a 2008 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. After serving 5+ years in the U.S. Army as an Engineer Officer, Will attended the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Upon graduation, Will worked for several years at Amazon focused on the development and manufacturing of consumer electronics devices.


Frank Fernandez | Cumming Management Group
Managing Director – Frank has been in construction industry for 27 years and is highly skilled in construction management, program management, cost management, and preconstruction phases. Frank’s project experience spans a wide variety of facility types and various delivery methods within both public and private sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction and is a licensed General Contractor in California.



Nils Blomquist, LEED AP | DPR Construction
Business Unit Leader – Niles manages DPR Construction’s Sacramento office. As a Sacramento native from a family of builders, Nils Blomquist knew he found something special when he joined DPR’s Sacramento office in 2005. Nils’ early interest in construction began when his grandfather, who emigrated from Sweden all the way to California, taught him about carpentry and construction. Throughout his career, Nils has worked on a diverse array of projects in all five of DPR’s core markets: advanced technology, commercial, healthcare, higher education and life sciences. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. While spending a summer in South Africa in college touring and playing rugby, Nils rode an ostrich, pet a cheetah and lived to tell about it.



Phil Suek | Gayle Manufacturing Company
Chief Estimator – Gayle Manufacturing Company is a Sacramento based structural steel fabricator with facilities located in Boise, Idaho. As a thirty-six year veteran in the industry, Phil has been involved in estimating, bidding and contracting across several different methods ranging from competitive bid, to prime trade contract, to the most recent trend of design assist. Examples of GMC’s work around Sacramento include the U.S. Bank, and Bank of the West towers, both on Capitol Mall, the CalSTRS tower in West Sacramento, and the New Natural Resources Headquarters tower at 7th & P Street.



Shaun Sleeth| McCarthy
Executive Vice President, McCarthy Northern Pacific Region and Leader of McCarthy’s Roseville office – Shaun is focused on understanding client project goals, ensuring the proper allocation of resources and identifying innovative solutions for efficiency and productivity. A veteran of the construction industry, Sleeth is a well-versed practitioner of the modalities of Lean Construction and Integrated Project Delivery. This approach integrates people, systems, business structures and practices into a process that collaboratively harnesses the talents and insights of all participants to optimize project results, increase value to the owner, reduce waste, and maximize efficiency through all phases of design, fabrication and construction. Sleeth earned his B.A. in Construction Management from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.



Ben Sabati | Vanir Construction Management, Inc. 
Vice President, Director or Cost Management Services – Ben Sabati has over 40 years of construction estimating and value engineering experience in education, justice, healthcare, transportation, and infrastructure/utility markets throughout the western United States. He leads Vanir’s estimating and constructability review departments in developing market conditions reports that are updated weekly and comprehensive estimates that are highly accurate, generally coming in at an average 1% to 3% of actual bid. Ben is a Certified Professional Estimator with the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) and has served as Chapter President for the Society of American Value Engineers (SAVE). He holds a M.S. Civil Engineering degree from Pahlavi University, Iran, and completed Construction Management studies from San Jose State University.
