The transition from marketing to business development starts with YOU. This educational program explores what it takes for you personally to make the jump from marketing to business development. We’ll cover the challenges, the letting go, the stretches that YOU need to consider. We’ll also talk about YOU, the company that wants YOU to be a business developer, and what needs to be planned, communicated, and how to execute for the transition. We’ll talk about the relationships that change and how to help them change and grow. Whether those relationship are internal with the seller-doers or external with clients and teaming partners, transitioning from marketing to business development means a new YOU and a new day. Come join us for a conversation (not a lecture) with advice from our speakers as well as SMPS members that are making or have made the leap.

Learning objectives:

  1. YOU will learn some tips and tricks for adjusting YOU without losing the genuine and authentic YOU.
  2. YOU will learn how the help your company adjust to the new YOU with set expectations and defined boundaries.
  3. YOU will learn what the new YOU needs to do as a business developer to build credibility, value, and sustainable relationships that results in winning work.

With more than 25 years of experience in the design and construction industry, Frank brings a wide variety of tested and proven ideas that work - tools needed - to build strategies that win. He has worked for small, medium, large, and mega-sized engineering companies in the western US. He's held titles from proposal specialist and marketing manager to strategic pursuit leader and business development manager. He has developed strategies to move into new markets in the private and public sector and has secured significant strategic wins with federal, regional, state, and local clients. He is a good listener. He understands what clients need and how to pull together the right team and strategy to win.
