President's Message

Welcome to the New Year!

As we step into 2026, I encourage everyone to think beyond traditional New Year’s resolutions. Instead of vague promises that quickly fade, let this year be about cultivating an experimental mindset, building sustainable habits, and setting intentional personal and professional goals that lead to realistic, meaningful, and lasting change.

So, where do we start? Start by getting comfortable with the uncomfortable. Growth rarely happens when we stay in our comfort zones. Trying something new, especially when it feels unfamiliar or intimidating, pushes us to learn, adapt, and ultimately thrive.

Within SMPS Sacramento, there are countless opportunities to lean into new
experiences in productive ways. Volunteering on a committee, committing to sharing your knowledge by speaking at an event, or pursuing your CPSM certification are all ways to challenge yourself while strengthening our chapter. You don’t have to be an expert to participate—sometimes the most valuable growth comes from simply showing up and being willing to learn.

Gaining experience and knowledge doesn’t always come from formal training alone. It comes from collaboration, from trying and sometimes stumbling, and from learning alongside peers who share similar challenges. The upcoming SMPS Pacific Regional Conference (PRC) is an excellent opportunity to do this. SMPS Sacramento provides a safe and supportive environment to experiment, ask questions, and build those skills together.

As we move into 2026, I invite you to say yes to opportunities that stretch you.
Participate. Volunteer. Lead. Learn. Let this be the year you grow by getting just a little more comfortable with the uncomfortable—and in doing so, help our SMPS Sacramento community grow as well.

Here’s to 2026 being a year of growth, connection, and shared success.

Sincerely,
